Mummy's Musings ~ Swim!! 13.07.10
CR showing some improvement already at today's swim lesson. Swam about 4ft to the side without help, floats or going under !
Mummy's Musings ~ Cahaya's Kisses 29.04.10
I sympathise with Cahaya's future lovers. At bedtime she told me "be quiet Mummy, no talking. I'm going 2kiss you.A quiet kiss".Then she jams her mouth up against mine,smashing n smushing my lips, nose etc..with all her weight on top of me, n i'm suffering underneath,half laughing,half crying from d pain.. &she finds i...t HYSTERICAL!She laughed 2 bits n just kept doing it again n again till she was rolling on d floor.

Cahaya is Fascinated by contact lenses, periods n tampons. Things that get put in n taken out. Am learning the folly of my ways now. There really is such a thing as Too Much Info with kids.... She told the gardener I had my period!!!
Mummy's Musings ~ CR is Amazing! 20.04.10
I went to singapore on Tue a.m just for a night. am back now. it was for a small reunion. Normally CR bawls her eyes out if i go anywhere, let alone away for a night. so since sunday i 'briefed ' her that i would be going away for 'werk' on tuesday. she said ok.. come tue morning i went to her while my helper was giving her breakfast n i said i was... See more going . She asked me a few intelligent questions like, "how are you going, by aeroplane?", ( to which i said no cos she really likes to fly! ) i said by car. She asked me, " Kung Kung's car?" ( his car is parked at our house ) , i said no. "Auntie Julia's car? ( which we loaned a few weeks ago ) I said no.. then she said "our car? I said No.. And she said Our car is okay now? its fixed? ( it had been in and outta the shop for weeks ) I said, Uncle Lim's car! ( our regular taxi driver ). "OH ! Uncle Lim.. I wanna see uncle LIm. U go now Mummy? I wanna see you go Mummy!" ( at this point i was getting worried and imagining the tears streaming down her face and risa prying her off my leg) So me and risa exchanged looks, and I thought, ok what the hell.. worth a try!
She completely mothered me. She said,"have u got your bag mummy? Put on your shoes. Quick.. let's go.. its getting late!"
Then she insisted on holding me hand and leading me to the cab. where she told Uncle LIm to "please help my Mummy with her bag!" and then i opened the cardoor and she says,"Okay Mummy, get in now. U can go now. " (at this point i was the one feeling like bawling!!) so i asked her," are you okay? i can really go?" and she said "yes Mummy u go now to werk. " then i sit down with one leg still out the door, and she lifts my leg and PUTS IT IN THE CAB and says "mind yr leg mummy, mind your leg! I help you. I close your door. watch your fingers! Bye Bye Mummy" BOOM! Car door closes! she closed me in!!
I was so amazed at her courage and bravery seeing her Mummy go. It spoke volumes of the confidence she has and of the great relationship and comfort zone she has with Risa. I really ought not to underestimate her and presume she will cry or not cry or do something or not do something. Time to let her spread her wings a little further and FLY!

Mummy's Musings ~ Chloe's Gems
My goddaughter Chloe to me-"why does Cahaya hv so many toys?" me to Chloe -"why? Do u not hv so many?" C to me- "no" me to C-" does it bother you?" c to me- "YES!! " me to C -"why?" Chloe to me- ( in totally exasperated voice) "because it makes me SO BUSY!!!"

At bedtime my daughter says to me," Mummy do communists have to sleep too?" Guess she has too many Che Guevara t-shirts !

Mummy's Musings - More Linguistic Skills!! 25th Jan 2010
Today was a day of a linguistic EXPLOSION!
In the school carpark, she said she wanted to see the drivers in the 'driver's room'. She told me she wanted to tell them "Selamat Pagi!" So we went to the room and lo and behold she said so loudly and surely, " SELAMAT PAGI PAK-CHICKS!!"
Midway during school I took her out and We went to the Orthopaedic Surgeon to check on Cahaya's foot. She was very excited to see him and kept asking what the Dr's name was. She pronounced it perfectly but VERY LOUDLY! " Hello DR GOBINDER!!!" She very proudly announced to him, "My foot's NOT broken anymore. It's FIXED!".
When we got in the car, she very sweetly told me, "Thank you Mummy for taking me to see the Doctor. Thank you Mummy for my Check-Up!" awwwwww
Then she asked where were we going. I said back to school. Then Cahaya said, " I don't wanna go back to school Mummy! I wanna go to the ice cream shop to have my purple and pink" . I told her there was a party at school and we have to go back and she says, " VAMONOS!! Let's GO!!"
When we got home and were having a bath, she told me while I tried to brush hr teeth , " Mummy, don't hold my chin okay? and brush even soffer ( softer ) ok? Eeeeven soffer!"
These moments make me so happy and so sad at the same time. The inability to capture them on video and the knowing that this moment has passed, never to be repeated. Childhood is sooo short and it's so fleeting... Catch it while you can!
